Swingfest Swingdown 2008 – Week 8 (The Motorcycle Diaries edition…)
Welcome to the 8th of thirty weekly updates that will be coming every Sunday until the completion of the Swingfest Swingdown 2008. The Swingfest Swingdown is a motivational contest and tool that Mrs. Gentlenibbles and I, along with some of our readers, are participating in to help us get in the best shape of our adult lives for Swingfest on July 31, 2008! Well, I have gone above and beyond this week to come up with a great excuse for not much progress. It is 7:45 AM on Sunday morning and Mrs. Gentlenibbles is running her sexy ass off in the 5K we scheduled to do today and I am not. In an effort to get out of running this event I chose to crash my motorcycle on Friday night.
I was wearing my leather coat, riding boots, and helmet which undoubtedly is the reason I walked a way relatively healthy, but I am still nursing a bum ankle, bruised knees and elbows, and very sore back, and some other small aches and pains. I consider all in all to be pretty lucky. I was thrown forward over the handlebars, but somehow the clutch lever got between my neck and the strap of my helmet ripping the helmet off and sending me and it rolling across the street in opposite directions. Thus the sore back, but the good news is, all the rolling along with the leather coat, gloves, boots, and jeans prevented any major road rash! Poor Mrs. Gentlenibbles witnessed the whole thing and was pretty shaken up, but managed to not wreck hers in the process of getting her motorcycle stopped and getting to me. We may give a better description of the event in a later post.
So needless to say, I am exactly where I was last week but hopefully Mrs. Gentlenibbles has made some progress. Next week we will tell you how her 5K went and get back on track with the updates.
Total weight loss - 11.5 lbs
Best mile time – 9:08 min
Total weight loss – 5.5 lbs
Longest run – 3.75 miles
Well, discounting car wrecks and plane crashes, I am about out of excuses and should have more positive news to report next week.
