Swingtown - Swinger Sex, Shag Carpet, and CBS

Make sure and put it on your calendar to be home at 10:00PM EST on Thursday, June 5! Why? Because that is the night the Lifestyle hits mainstream TV with the premiere episode of “Swingtown” on CBS!
“Swingtown” is a new drama debuting on CBS this summer set in 1970’s Chicago. The first episode revolves around a couple who has recently moved to a new neighborhood. They find themselves at a July 4th party of a swinger couple down the street who have decided to seduce them.
While obviously there is not much information about what all is going to be happening in this first episode, I am sure CBS is going to do their best to make the first one is as hot as possible to grab as many viewers as they can.
Now as a very active lifestyle couple, one would think Mrs. Gentlenibbles and I would be really excited to see “Swinging” get a shot at the mainstream with the debut of this new television series. We are ecstatic to see that one of the major networks is taking a chance on this historically taboo topic for a television series, unfortunately we are not sure this series is going to do anything positive for the Lifestyle.
As of now, everything we have heard about this show indicates that it is going to play into all the unrealistic swinger stereotypes that have plagued the American perception of swinging since if first entered the public conscious. Orgies, drugs, unsafe sex, and shag carpet will most likely be staples in “Swingtown’s” storyline.
In reality as active as we have been in the Lifestyle over the last year and half, the only thing we have witnessed from that list is shag carpet. Which is a pretty funny story in itself involving several of our friends, a beach house, and two broken beds in one night! ;) Maybe we will tell you that story some other time.
The point is most of this folklore that makes so many couples scared to pursue their interests in open marriages has little to do with the swinging, and tracks its origins more from the spirit of the Seventies themselves. Mrs. Gentlenibbles and I were absolutely amazed at how beautiful, normal, responsible, and intelligent the majority of swingers were when we entered the Lifestyle. We were amazed because we had expected all the ubiquitous swinger stereotypes that “Swingtown” is going to indulge!
We really hope we are wrong about these worries for “Swingtown”. We will be anxiously watching CBS on Thursday to find out for ourselves what this TV show has to offer, and will let you know what we think next week. So make sure and check it out for yourselves so you can let us know your opinions as well!

I’m New to the lifestyle but even I must say that I am more then a little concerned about the effect this show may have on the swinging lifestyle.
Those who are veteran swingers shouldn’t be effected at all. They no to take it with a grain of salt (and a shot of tequila).
The show could be good and may get new couples thinking about the lifestyle OR it could cause more heat and fuel anti-swinging activists.
I already have my DVR set up to record it. So I guess the only thing to do is wait and find out.

I’ve seen the commercials too, the show looks interesting. I have to say the music drew me in more than the swinger aspect … not my lifestyle choice, but live & let live is my attitude. Swing away

We are so bummed, due to unforseen events we ended up missing the debut of Swingtown!!!
If anyone knows when and if it will re-air or if they know where we can see it, let us know. We know of some other friends who missed it as well!

I did catch the show and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure it had it’s good and bad points but if done correctly it may pan out well.
CBS usually posts there shows on their website for viewing. This episode should be up there soon. I already downloaded the episode off the net but it’s a little over 350MB. Anyone know how I can send a file this large to someone?

Yes I have winzip but I doubt that will compress the file down enough to be a reasonable size for emailing.
