Selecting a Sextastic Swinger Themed Costume for Halloween

Well, it’s that time of year again! One of our favorite times of year as swingers, and not just because of the cooler weather, jack-o-lanterns and earlier sunsets. . . if you haven’t figured it out by now, we in the lifestyle love to dress up! We don’t necessarily wait for Halloween to come around to express our creativity in our attire! Although, not always the scary, spooky goblins, theme parties are a huge part of the lifestyle.

There are tons of Web sites with club wear and Halloween costumes! Even if you don’t order from them, they can help inspire ideas. A great site for costumes is www.odgirl.com. If you’ve bought a certain brand of lingerie that you know fits, it may be wise to go with that same brand for ordering costumes online, only because their sizing is probably similar. Some online stores may not allow you to return clothing if it does not fit, so be sure to check into that. Also, keep in mind shipping times.

Local party stores, such as Party City, are a great source for costumes. Personally, I like to try clothes on before I buy them because one size does not fit all. Of course, for the club you can jazz up store bought outfits - shorten the skirt or wear sexy high heels! Be as creative as you want. Here in Houston, Cindie’s Lingerie has a lot of costumes at both Halloween and Christmas. For goth, rocker, or other costumes similar to that, don’t forget the stores in the mall such as Hot Topic or Spencer’s.

For those of you who sew, you can make your own costume! Instead of a one piece dress, make it a two piece. Cheerleader, Greek gods/goddesses, or Flintstone costumes would be fairly simple costumes to make. If you have a costume that you wore for a lifestyle party that you would like to wear again, now is the time. Might as well get good use out of them! More than likely, you won’t be wearing it anywhere else.

If you are unsure about how risqué to go, buy a jacket or cover-up to wear until you get comfortable, and if you don’t feel comfortable, you don’t have to take it off.

I would not advise using a lot of Halloween make-up for a club party. That can get really messy. Keep in mind, you are trying to feel sexy and you might not feel too sexy at an after party when the clothes comes off and you have some crazy make-up on!

Comfort is also a factor when selecting a costume. Pay close attention to how warm your outfit is going to be, as you will be dancing along with some other physical exerting type of activities. Again, you want to feel good and have an enjoyable time, so you might not want large wings or other pieces protruding from yourself as a part of your costume, especially if it is going to be crowded.

Some parties may have a theme. Iniquity in Houston is hosting a party with a theme of the seven deadly sins - lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. They are giving away prizes for the best costume in each category. Take this into consideration when choosing your costume!

Oh, so many things to think about, but don’t stress over it too much. Choose something that fits your style, be comfortable and most importantly, have a spooktacular time this Halloween!
