Pardon the Interruption

As many of you may have noticed, Gentlenibbles has been inaccessible for about 15 hours and then was looking a little quirky there for an hour or two.  Believe it or not the interruption has nothing to do with sex, drugs, or rock-n-roll, but was a good sign for us and our readers.

We have spent the fifteen hours or so migrating www.gentlenibbles.com to a brand new server and have left our small share-hosting web hosting company that we have used for the last year.  The site has grown significantly and is beginning to reach enough traffic loads that we were beginning to struggle with long page load times and increasingly occurring episodes of the website going down altogether.

It was these issues that made us decide it was time to put our money where our mouth is and invest a significant amount of “moola” to move gentlenibbles.com to a brand new virtual private server.  We now have much more control over many of the behind the “curtain” activities as well as a much larger supply of hardware resources to ensure your time on Gentle Nibbles is pleasant!

The upgrade is also allowing us to launch a new site we have been working on for the last month that we think will be a great addition to Gentle Nibbles and hopefully well received by you!  We will just give you a small hint here…

We have had so many couples approach us since starting Gentle Nibbles saying they would like to have their own blog or website but really don’t want the hassle or the cost associated.  We think we have something figured out, so keep your eyes out for the next few weeks!!!

We would also greatly appreciate you pointing out any errors or “funny looking stuff” you see on the website for the next couple of weeks as we fine tune the sites migration.  It was a very large database that took quite a few tweaks to get back in shape once we landed on the new server and invariably we are going to discover some editing or functionality that may have suffered.

Just leave a comment in the comment section on the page or post where you find the problem and we will get an email notification about it.  You can also just send us an email to thenibblers@gentlenibbles.com ,if that would be easier for you, describing the problem!

We also wanted to make sure and give everyone a heads up that we are launching a new Contest on Gentle Nibbles in the next couple of days and we think it is going to be pretty big!  So make sure you check back or subscribe to the email updates so you don’t miss your chance at some pretty sweet prizes!
