When Waxing Is Not An Option
Previously I wrote an article about Brazilian waxing. I had never had one and was too embarrassed to ask any friends if they had experienced one, so I wanted to share my experience and the things I learned. I love Brazilian waxes. As explained in the previous article, waxing lasts longer than shaving and is not as irritating when the hair grows back. The smoothness you get from waxing is a lot better than shaving, but sometimes a Brazilian wax may be not be convenient.
One inconvenience is scheduling and waiting for an appointment. Sometimes last minute events come up and you do not have time to get an appointment. Another inconvenience of the Brazilian wax is that you have to let your hair grow in order for the wax to be able to pull the hairs out. Lastly, waxing every 4 to 6 weeks can be somewhat expensive, especially if you are already paying a tanning membership or maintaining nails and pedicures!
I found a product that helps tremendously with shaving and wanted to pass on the information!! It is the most amazing shave gel. It is called Bikini Zone Anti-Bumps Shave Gel. I found it at Walgreens, but their Web site lists many other retailers that carry the product, including Amazon.com. At bikinizone.com, the site gives some great tips and information on shaving. They also have home waxing kits, which I have not tried yet but I am sure are great as well.
With this shave gel, you can shave against the grain and not get razor burn! First shave with the grain to remove as much hair as possible, then shave the opposite way. The gel does a great job of making the skin smooth and lubricated for easy shaving. Guys, whether Mr. Gentlenibbles admits it or not, it works well for him too!
For those last minute hair removal needs, or if you prefer shaving to waxing, give Bikini Zone Anti-Bumps Shave Gel a try and let us know how it works for you! If you have another great product that you use, let us know about that, too!
So here is to ultra smooth “special” parts for your weekend plans!

We found that the sugar waxing kit from here works really well. I go into NYC semi regularly for my brazilian and I wax him at home. The sugar wax melts nicely in the microwave in about a minute, the denim strips are washable and reusable and the plastic sticks wash clean with warm soapy water. Plus it’s more gentle on the skin.

Great, Thanks for the heads up. How is their online ordering? Secure and timely delivery or do you buy your kits in the salon?
FYI- We just found the kit online at Amazon.com here:

I am a loyal waxer and try never to shave unless I have to touch up for an unexpected occasion. BUT, my waxer swears by this trick for ingrowns and bumps: take a loofah or shower brush, and each day in the shower brush UP (only up) on the skin down there…just 5 or 6 times. This gets all the hairs growing in the same direction, and it actually makes waxing less painful. Also, I’ve tried Tend Skin and that works too. It makes the skin there feel and look like it does on your forearm! Soft and smooth!
I can’t wax because my skin is too sensitive, and I have a terrible issue with ingrowns. What I’ve found works really well for me is to only shave a couple of times a week. My fiance doesn’t mind a little short hair down there. I’ve also begun using my Clarisonic on my bikini area. This little gem is made by the people who created the Sonicare toothbrush. It’s a facial brush, and it’s done wonders for my complexion. So, every day, I cover my bikini area with my facial wash and use the brush on it. Since I’m not scrubbing the skin, I don’t think it matters which direction I use it in, but I’ll try Jane’s technique. I haven’t had any issues with ingrowns since I’ve started doing this, and I’ve also noticed that shaving is easier.
Maybe someday I’ll have $1500 of free money to get lasered. But maybe by then the full ’70s pussy ‘do will be back in and I can spend the cash elsewhere!

The spa where I get my Brazilian waxes sells Tend Skin. I have not tried it yet, but they highly recommend it.
I will also have to try the loofa trick. I think that would be similar to exfoliating, which is also recommended after waxing to avoid ingrown hairs.
Heather, I agree, I do not shave everyday either. Mr. G does not mind the hair, so I usually just shave on the weekends.
Thanks for the input, ladies! What we go through to be beautiful!!!
