Any Press is Good Press – Right?
Well now we have done it… Gentlenibbles has managed to swing themselves into a tad bit of controversy in the beautiful town of Austin, Texas. It seems our little website along with our party barge and hotel takeover on Lake Travis has garnered the attention of one of the morning radio stations.
I personally did not hear any of the broadcast so I can not attest to exactly the mood, opinion, or quality of the segment, but I have heard from a couple of sources in the Austin area that gentlenibbles was in fact the topic of discussion. Upon returning home this evening, I also saw that we are now getting several hits from the radio stations website where they have linked to us. I hope the broadcast was a little more entertaining, because all the website has is some text from our party article copied and pasted onto their blog. From what I can tell from this website Todd and Don, the hosts, seem to be pretty liberal minded so hopefully the segment was not just swinger bashing. If it was a level headed discussion we would have loved to have had the chance to call in and share our piece. Maybe next time.

In case any of you attendees are worried about somebody killing the “mojo” of the party. We have already checked with all parties involved and there is nothing to worry about! Look at it this way, maybe the free press will get a few more sexy couples out to join us in July!

This is the kind of thing that you worry about, because it can be a blessing and a curse. On one hand it opens up the idea of swinging a bit more, and any remotely positive comments about it in the public forum are helpful. But at the same time it could have you become a target of those same type of militants who think they’re God’s own private army down in Amarillo! I hope your little boost of fame is all positive! We’ve gotta stick together!
Well I just listened to the podcast and I have to say that the show didn’t do GentleNibbles or the lifestyle any favors.
For the most part they read off the press release and standard information about the party. However there seemed to be a condescending tone. There was also a few comments from the other host about how the swingers are all “fat and sweaty”, how “no one wants to see them naked”, and how they want “nothing to do with the event”.
The only positive attitude was the first caller who owns a restaurant on the lake and said hew was excited for the business.
The second caller, a much older man, voiced his disgust at how something like this could go on where he takes his grandkids on Sundays.
All in all the party only got about 10 minutes of air time. However it’s 10 minutes we probably could have done without.

That sucks. It makes me real tempted to send them a pic of Mrs. G with her face blacked out. I bet we could quickly get a retraction of the fat and sweaty!

It is quite hilarious…. For a media outlet they seem to be a little bewildered by a blog post. They are assuming they are reading an official press release for the entire BBB (event though we link to the BBB page). I am ok with the only negative caller being the 80 year old man…..
Oh, you know the drill….they’re just jealous. It’s easier for them to be dismissive of lifestyle folk as fat, old, etc because then it’s easier to disapprove.
It doesn’t seem to be that bad of press.
Yes, they do throw some negative comments out there, but listening to the podcast, if I wasn’t a swinger and interested in the lifestyle.. I’d definitely want to go and check it out!
I doubt their blog will get much notice. After viewing their blog, they only have 1 comment, and that’s on a different post at the bottom of the page.
Hmm.. Maybe no one really even listens to them?! LOL!
