Hair Down There? – Swingers Says What
One of our New Years Resolutions here at Gentle Nibbles was to do a better job of answering the tons of questions we get regularly from readers regarding the Lifestyle and its intricacies.
So as with all resolutions we will at least start off trying with a question from a reader regarding a pubic hair dilemma.
Dear Nibblers,
You mention most women in swinging
having their pubic area shaved, is it acceptable for men to also have
a shaved pubic area?Sincerely,
Tentatively Hairy Baller (We admit we made up this name as the email was unsigned)
Well Hairy Baller, not only is it acceptable it is almost expected. I use the term almost because there are plenty of potential partners out there that would not mind your pubic hair, a few that might appreciate it, but there are plenty that may be down right turned off by your personal man carpet.
I have never met a couple that would refuse to play with a couple due to the man sporting nicely shaved balls, but many couples list unshaven privates as a “no go” on the “go” “no go” checklist for swinging compatibility. For that reason we recommend new swingers including males get a below the belt haircut prior to seeking out their first play date. (Make sure and vote in our poll below to let us know what your policy is on hairy balls)
Now being the helpful and incredibly sexy couple that we are, lets give you a few tips and pointers about how to “trim the biz” (that last bit about being “incredibly sexy” added for the sole purpose of helping to boost my post holiday indulgence confidence)
- Use a trimmer and a one guard to first trim all your pubic hair. This will allow you to shave your junk with much fewer strokes which significantly reduces razor burn. Razor burned balls…..not so much fun.
Borrow your wife’s “special” shave down there gel or cream. This hair and area is “special” thus deserving this “special” gel. Pubic areas are very susceptible to ingrown hairs and razor burn so the industry has some creams and gels specifically for these areas. The one Mrs. G loves and that we use is Bikini Zone Anti-Bumps Shave Gel. (Click the link to see its Amazon profile) It can also be found at most drug stores. Great stuff.- Women have the landing strip, as a guy consider leaving a small “garden” around your pole. This is not necessarily for looks, although I have had no complaints but for logistics. If you leave just a small trimmed patch of hair around the top and sides of your penis it can make a huge difference when the action gets hot. Like your facial hair, your pubic hair is thick and even a smooth close shave can scratch and burn a little bit when rubbed aggressively. The small “garden” is a much smoother interface point for you and your partner and will ensure no one is rubbed raw after a couple hours of the “bow chicka bow yow” time.
- Mrs Gentlenibbles is making me include this last point (while chuckling heavily) If you decide to wax your little friend. DO NOT ATTEMPT YOURSELF! Hire a professional or at least an experienced amateur. During our first few weeks of swinging Mrs. Gentlenibbles arrived home one afternoon to see me standing with the left half of my pubic area covered in blood and the right half still covered in hair. Funny now, lots and lots of curse words back then!
I hope that helps “Hairy”. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
Don’t forget to vote in our Hairy Ball poll below and leave us a comment to explain!

As a male half, I strongly recommend the Norelco Bodygroom by Philips. I’ve been using it for a couple of years now virtually “injury free” (pulled a couple of hairs when going to fast). Works above and below the shaft very well without the scare of a blade! Plus, their website http://www.shaveeverywhere.com is pretty funny!
Interesting, that’s for sure!
Hey lagniappe,
How close is the shave? Close trim or Razor like?
Thanks,
Mr. G
Mr. G –
I’d say the shave is very, very close – razor like, but not “razor smooth” – similar to using an electric razor vs. a straight razor on your face. The bodygroom has two functions on it, so if you take some time you can do a really good job around the entire area (top, bottom, sides, shaft, balls, etc) Will there be a stray hair here and there, probably, but I’ve been complimented more than once about my close cut. Extra bonus is that its waterproof so you can do quick, daily trims in the shower without too much thought. Using a razor was always tough as I had to use baby powder and such and as hair grew out it got very itchy…and using a razor was too time consuming for everyday touch ups. I never have those issues with the BG. Hope that helps! Wish we were closer, I could have Mrs. G give her opinion
Years ago when I first started lifecasting several of my models turned me on to Magic with aloe, Walmart for sure, look in the black mens product area. It not only works on my bald head but great for the pubs too. Just mix with water and put it on, I use a small 2″ paint prush. Let it sit for about five minutes, get in the shower and come out clean as a whistle. Cavet, before trying anything try a small area first.
Well, I have to say I am surprised, I didn’t think those electric ones worked that well. I assumed you were waxed mr Lagniappe..think I will have to investigate a little more in April! ; )
Mr. G – No mention of the “optical inch” & hair removal? Pretty sure that is near the top of the list of why my guy continues to remove hair ; )…shhhh don’t tell anyone.
Couldn’t agree with you more about not attempting waxing your on pole! Stick to a professional or really research the hell out of the correct temp of wax and the correct method of the ripping it off-and have stand by supplies if something should go wrong. That was hands down the biggest mistake we have made in swinging!!!!!
Mr G-I’m a little worried about you using a razor on your extended naked vacation. Think it would be quite a challenge in a boat in the middle of the ocean after a few cocktails. Try sugaring,(with a professional of course!) it’s less painful! Have a great time on your trip! xoxo
Allie,
Hey Hottie! Great to hear from you and thanks for the advice…. Always so thoughtful!
Mike,
That really does sound like Magic. It is officially on our “to try” list!
Mr. G
Wait a minute…bush is BACK! Well, maybe not for guys and the term “bush” is such a strong word…maybe I should say, Some hair is BACK. LOL. Really, I’m kinda over the bald beaver look on the ladies and I think SOME hair on a mans body is masculine. No need to go grizzly but you know what I mean. Just my 2 cents.
Spectacular,
Right there with you! The Mrs. and I actually prefer a little bit of hair on our “friends”. I sometimes miss the cute little pubic patches that were all the rage during my teens!

Mr. G
I have the norelco and though it is good for some things it doesn’t get close enough down there for a smooth finish.
I like smooth because I like a woman to enjoy giving oral of all types and if it isn’t super smooth many women won’t spend as much time there.
I use the bikini zone you have pictured.
Works great for me.
Funny thing is it gives my wife little bumps so she can’t use their “no bumps” gel.
When J is not looking, I grab one of her disposable razors… hee hee….
Yeah it has become expected but there has to be some easier way of getting rid of pubic hair other than shaving, I do shave but hate doing it.
My husband and I have used Veet and Nads hair remover for extra smooth no shave naughty parts. However… the first run was a bit of a disaster… yup I burned his balls. We got the timing figured out now.
~Happy
Hey happy, how long is just right for your man? I have been considering veet or nair but i am worried about the burm myself.
Rob- He goes about 3-4 minutes. The key is to not dilly dadle getting it on there and getting the timer running. Lol… you should stop by my page and read “burned balls”… He put me in charge of the hair remover just before our first swinging swap. yeah… I took too long…
~Happy
Wow! That is all I can say………..This is truly one o fhte funniest articles that brought tears to my eyes and laughter so hard it hurt my stomach. Seriously? You really have to ask this? If you’re in the lifestyle a shaven area is expected and most sanitary. I am dying over here because seriousy, we go to Hedo II every year and you rarely ever see major hair balls. Every now and a gain you may see someone with a forest or even a jungle but not very often and if so they’re at least trimmed nicely.
Hiarballs are off limits for us…………but to each his own……………also, once you’ve shaved and aren’t lazy it confroms to your skin with no problems…………..
This subject seems to create such diverse answers every time I see it kum up anywhere. It amazes me just how much controversy can arise from it!
I think for us, we personally do what we prefer, smooth and let the cards fall where they may!
Not to judge those who don’t BUT not to play is a choice as well
